2nd High Incidence Disabilities in Education International Conference (HIDC)
Event Start Date: March 30, 2017 | Event End Date: March 31, 2017 | Event Venue: Courtyard Marriott, Toronto |
hosted by NOARC and RARC
This conference has been designed to focus on the issues and challenges that are currently at the forefront of the field of disability services within postsecondary education working with students transitioning into college and university. Learning Disabilities and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder have historically been the primary disabilities serviced by colleges and universities but in recent years the number of students with Mental Health Disabilities has burgeoned. Research findings, best practices, and promising programs will be addressed within this conference in relation to documentation requirements, determination of accommodations and the particular needs of students with Mental Health Disorders. More than 20 leading researchers, clinicians, and/or educators will speak on topics including Hara Estroff Marano, Editor-at-Large for Psychology Today, Dr. Heather Stuart, Bell Canada Mental Health and anti-Stigma Research Chair, and Dr. Larry Lewandowski, Professor of Psychology, Syracuse University.
